This collection contains brochures, correspondence, course materials, flyers, memoranda, minutes, news articles, newsletters, press releases, proposals, reports, and surveys, the bulk of which come from the administration of Shauna Adix (1971-1989) and the actind directorship of Beverly Purrington (June-August 1989). Approximately one half of a linear foot of material originates from University of Utah departments outside of the Women's Resource Center. This includes records from earlier women's programs offered through the Extension Division and the Division of Continuing Education. Another half of a linear foot of material is from non-University of Utah organizations with which the Women's Resource Center had interacted.

Shauna McLatchy Adix was born 13 June 1932. She married Vern Adix, a professor of theater at the University of Utah. They had two children, David and Allison. Adix was a professor at the University of Utah, the first director of the Women's Resource Center (1971-1989), and an activist in women's issues.
